Can I purchase a website access pass directly from Ranmabooks.com using my credit card?

Ranmabooks.com is ending its relationship with CCBill, the website’s Merchant Account partner. Credit card payment processing shall cease on December 27th, 2025. No Merchant Account partner is expected to replace this service for the foreseeable future.

Ranmabooks.com has offered credit card payment options since 2009. What’s changed?

A combination of factors lead to this decision.

First, content policies became increasingly strict in recent years. While some safeguards make sense to stop the creation or hosting of potentially illegal imagery, there were outliers the RHB staff disagreed with and a lack of support to properly screen “false positives” flagged by the moderation system.

Second, Visa and Mastercard annual fees have doubled to reach nearly four figures each. There are also associated business fees to maintain the merchant account, which push the upfront cost of payment processing beyond what is reasonable given the few who are still using it.

For these reasons, the RHB has made the difficult decision to transition fully to Patreon for the funding of Ranmabooks projects.

When will the RanmaBooks.com website stop accepting Credit Card payments directly?

The last day to purchase a subscription to Ranmabooks with MasterCard is December 22nd, 2025. The last day to purchase with Visa is December 26th, 2025. The annual renewal dates are slightly different based on when Visa and Mastercard first approved Ranmabooks for payment processing.

Will my active subscription purchased directly from Ranmabooks.com still renew?

Any subscription due for renewal before the expiration of MasterCard and Visa payment processing on Ranmabooks.com will still renew. All subscriptions due for renewal on or after December 27th, 2025 with CCBill will fail.

Without CCBill or another credit card payment processor, will Ranmabooks.com be shutting down now? Will content updates cease?

No. Ranmabooks.com shall remain open and content will continue to be posted there as usual.

If I can’t purchase a membership directly on the website with my credit card, how can I support the Ranma Hentai Books project?

The RHB team encourages all who would generously support the project to pledge at the Ranmabooks Patreon. The bulk of our support already exists there, but now it’s the only place to support our creation of new Ranma Hentai art.

If I pledge at Patreon, how will I access Ranmabooks.com?

Direct signups are no longer possible. However, active Patreon pledges of at least the Defender tier ($25 USD) can potentially request a 30-day pass. If a patron is eligible, they must first message us at Patreon and request the pass. Please allow up to 24 hours for us to process your membership access request as this process must be done manually by a staff member (usually Deep Star).

I’ve pledged the Defender tier or above at the Ranmabooks Patreon. Am I eligible for Ranmabooks.com access?

If your lifetime support of the Ranmabooks project totals $100 USD or more, you are eligible! Send a message with your Ranmabooks.com access request to us at the Patreon or send an email to Deep Star (using the address on the “About Us” page). Please allow 24 hours for staff members to verify and enable your account access to Ranmabooks.com. Be sure to include your Ranmabooks.com username and account email in that message to avoid potential delays processing the creation of your access pass.

I’m a new supporter of the Ranma Hentai Books project and do not have at least $100 USD lifetime support. When do I get access to the website?

A patron becomes eligible once they reach $100 USD total lifetime support. For a Patreon Defender ($25 USD), this would be in 4 months after their fourth pledge is successfully processed. New Patreon Champions ($35 USD) become eligible after 3 months of support. Don’t want to wait? New Patrons can get the fastest possible access by pledging the Legend tier ($100 USD). However, Legend slots are limited and rarely open due to the art request benefits of that tier.

I’ve purchased memberships to Ranmabooks.com in the past directly using my credit card, but I’ve never supported using Patreon. Am I still eligible?

Likely yes! Lifetime support means any money paid to support the project at the Patreon or directly at Ranmabooks.com. Both are added together and if the total is $100 USD or more, you are eligible for an access pass whenever you choose to make a new pledge of at least the Defender tier. If your lifetime support is less than $100, then you’d become eligible whenever your total support crosses that mark and had an active pledge of at least the Defender tier or above.

Why does Ranmabooks have a lifetime support requirement ($100 USD) for access to the website? Why doesn’t any pledge amount give me instant access?

The continuation of the RHB relies upon monthly support pledges to create new art for the community. Content the RHB creates is both expensive and niche, so the number of supporters is likewise small. If there’s too much membership churn, then the project cannot make new art and ceases to exist.

While any donation is appreciated, a one-time small drop in the bucket won’t ensure the project’s long term survival. There must be an incentive- enough content value- to ensure new supporters stick around and are rewarded for their loyalty.

Patreon-only access is already a good value for a single pledge. Consider that a pledge at the Patreon provides the benefit of access to many hundreds of art pages posted there since 2018, including numerous art exclusives unique to that platform along with new art created that month.

By contrast, Ranmabooks.com contains many thousands of art pages created since 2006, including all RHB comics. What is the true value of that? For our estimation, we must weigh perceived valued along with the need to gather enough funds to continue comic creation. As the size of the galleries balloons and costs go up, it makes less and less sense to offer everything for a single small pledge.

That’s why the RHB has set a lifetime goal of support that is attainable in a burst or over the long haul. Even new patrons of the humble Trainee ($2) and Disciple ($5) tier can eventually become eligible for website access too. The RHB doesn’t want a few whales propping up the entire project.

The lifetime support goal exists to ask each patron who wants Ranmabooks.com access to offer a fair share of support so RHB comic creation continues. Once reached, a monthly pass will be available to them whenever they choose to pledge Defender tier(or above). This should be attainable for new patrons of all budgets. And most importantly, the policy keeps the cost of website access from increasing for longtime patrons who have already reached the support goal.

I don’t want to pledge every month and wait for access to be manually enabled. Is there a way to get an access pass longer than a month?

Thankfully, Yes!

We are aware of the potential frustration of having to request Ranmabooks.com access and then waiting for it to be manually granted. It’s a LOT of work for us too, but technical limitations make it unavoidable.

Fortunately, Annual Patreon passes are available and provide savings too! If an eligible patron has a new or existing annual pass, they will get matching access time. For this reason, annual passes are encouraged for those patrons who can afford it as it’s the best value and ensures the least interruption of website access.

Please be aware, only annual discounts are currently possible at Patreon. Should that platform offer more flexibility in the future, shorter membership pass discounts could return too, such as the 6-month pass.

I’m currently a Paladin at Ranmabooks.com. I’d gladly pledge Paladin at the Patreon, but notice there is no such tier there.

At the end of 2025, the Paladin tier is being discontinued at Ranmabooks.com. A combination of factors lead to the elimination of this tier. First: It was the least supported tier- considerably less than the Defender and Champion tiers. Second: Inflation. Just as Defenders eventually lost art request perks due to inflation, Paladins would very soon be in the same boat. Rather than remove art request perks down the line, it makes sense to remove the tier entirely now as without art requests there’s no point in it existing.

Now patrons have a choice: do I pledge Defender tier and get the cheapest access to Ranmabooks.com or do I pledge Champion tier or above and get occasional art requests? Both tiers offer unique value, which is why these tiers shall remain while the Paladin tier will be retired. Rest assured, all legacy benefits for current Paladins shall be honored until the end of their current membership.

So the Paladin tier is being retired. What is happening to the Master tier at the Ranambooks Patreon? I can’t find it anymore.

The Master moniker is also being retired on December 31st, 2025. Unlike Paladin, the Master tier’s benefits will remain in the form of the Defender tier.

Since its inception, the core supporters of Ranmabooks.com have been its Defenders. This group needs a home on the Ranmabooks Patreon and there was too much overlap between Masters and Defenders, so best to merge these groups.

Will the current cost of Master tier at Patreon ($20 USD) increase to match the current cost of purchasing a Ranmabooks.com Defender access pass ($25 USD)?

Yes. As of January 1st, 2026 the price of the Defender tier at Patreon will be $25 USD.

For current Masters, this is a price increase of $5 USD and it is the only time the cost of the tier has increased since being created in 2018. For current Defenders, this is roughly a price match not considering loyalty discounts.

Loyalty discounts sound great. Will there be one for the Ranmabooks Patreon Defender tier?

Yes! The RHB team is grateful for all who have continued to support us through the years, whatever the payment processor.

In this new “Patreon era”, Ranmabooks.com is offering all existing Defenders and RHB Patreon Masters the chance to lock in the current $20 USD support price!

New supporters can get this discount too! Anyone who pledges the Master (soon to be Defender) tier before January 1st, 2026 may keep the $20 USD monthly legacy price for the life of their Patreon pledge. The only way to lose it is through cancellation or expiration.

Even better, the 15% discount from the annual pass stacks on top! So a Defender tier Patreon pledge with legacy pricing can potentially be as low as $17 per month!
