Site upgrade in progress!

Our biggest site overhaul in a decade begins NOW! Please be aware that users now have the ability to comment and rate each image in the gallery! Better still, users can now search for images in the gallery by entering a text keyword or searching by tags. And for those who want to download the full quality image of a particular update, there’s a nifty “download” button to boot!

In other upgrades, the calendar and news posts sections have been completely redesigned. News posts are now available to everyone (even if you’re not logged in) and offer a preview of the art available. This means that whether a member or not, everyone will know what we’re making and hopefully this might entice a few people to support us who otherwise might have stayed on the sidelines.

Some key info for our membership about the new site:

1. Not all images are currently tagged. All Fan Requests from the last two years, plus Specials and Naughty Bits pages are tagged. Since it took us a decade and a half to amass this great collection of Ranma hentai, it will be some months before every single page in the gallery is tagged and features a written blurb. Thanks for your patience, going to chip away at this every week until we finish!
2. Currently, we recommend that you only use one filter tag at a time when doing a search in the gallery to avoid arriving at a dead-end (0 images in the results). We are working on a solution where users who select one tag, say “Akane”, will see all images of Akane in the results and then, if they want to further refine their search, the search tags in the list with zero Akane images will be HIDDEN from the user. This will help avoid accidental dead-ends, and we expect that to be online by the end of the week (close now, more testing needed).
3. Only News Entries dated 8.31.2020 and later will have the enhanced convenience features (as creating new posts for old updates is impractical and most of our community already has seen/downloaded that art anyway).
4. Wordpress runs a bit slower than our previous site. Such is the trade-off of using a Content Management System. We could have sped this up if we had chosen to present our images in a very lossy format, but we decided to use a balanced approach. There is a small amount of compression to help the galleries and images load faster. However, all users can download the full quality image using the “download” button. If you want to enjoy the art in all its glory, you know what to smash!
5. There will be cosmetic and presentation enhancements in the future. Today, we’re laying the foundation of the revamped gallery and giving our users the chance to taste the new features. Tomorrow- more like the coming weeks- we’ll make it prettier.
6. MOST IMPORTANT: Before you comment on images, first visit the “account” (using the button in the menu). Next, navigate to “customer profile”. Choose your “nickname”. For many users, this will be the same as their forum screen name. Click “Save Profile”. Now, on the same page, choose your “Display Name in Comments”. For many, this will be the same as their nickname. Now you’re ready to post! And you should see your rank next to your Display name whenever you post a comment in our galleries!

There are some other matters we want to figure out, such as where shall members post their Fan Request templates. For now, continue to do that on the forum. In the future though, we’ll be integrating this into the site as well. Some pages, like FAQ and TOUR, will be getting overhauled in September. Lastly, it was not possible to process all the Fan Art pages (in the public gallery), so this is temporarily hidden. We will address this at a later date, but our priority is taking care of the membership art first. Once that’s settled, we’ll bring the public gallery back and continue to host art for the Ranma Hentai community, as we’ve done for decades and will continue to do!

SITE UPGRADE NEWS (08.25.2020): All major bugs fixed, including a nasty one with the gallery slider we cleaned up over the weekend. The last remaining challenges are a redesigned Calendar (content descriptions, not just a color coded date) and News Page (that will include thumbnails and links to content, no more hunting around for recent updates), which are close to completion. Once these pages are finished, we shall launch the gallery for the community. Expect some tweaks to happen after launch, based on feedback and performance, but we’re confident and excited to share the next version of the site this month! It’s the biggest update since 2010, and we promise it’s going to be worth the long wait!

About content, there have been 4 completed pages of Amazon this month (with several more having been sketched). We’ll be rolling these out at an accelerated pace (two pages at a time instead of the usual single) for a limited time, as consolation for the long wait and the community’s patience while we took care of the site upgrade business. Remember, Amazon returns after the new gallery launches!

We realize that the long wait without content of any kind is annoying though, so we’re posting a remastered page that first appeared over at our Patreon, and it happens to be one of the best group pinups we ever made! Check out the original here, and compare it with our remastered version below! ^_^

COMIC LORD PROJECT UPDATE: Two pages of the Amazon comic have been sketched, but the coloring stage has not yet been completed. For this reason, we’re pushing back the debut of its new chapter until next week. Be assured that the RHB team expects to be able to create many pages in the month of August. Going forward, our plan is to make comic content through Halloween, with the occasional backlogged commission being released intermittently. This means more TLC spent on each page and we hope a truly epic result our community will enjoy for years to come!

SITE UPGRADE NEWS: Happy to report that the commenting, rating, and rank system are working in the test gallery! (Not currently public, test mode only available to admins.)

Unfortunately, the search feature of our gallery still has a nasty bug that causes some results to point to the wrong files. It’s been a month and we seem to be stuck. We’re making a last ditch effort to resolve the issue. If we can’t accomplish this, we may roll out a smaller version of the site upgrade which contains all the currently working content, while the “search” feature would be implemented later in the year. No final decision yet, but we’ll keep the community posted on our progress.
