Introduction

Happiness Consultant (HC) is an original, full-colour English Ranma hentai manga, produced by Ranma Hentai Books, released in daily page-by-page updates via Ranma Hentai Books Defender System.

Storyline and Contents

The Story:

Bet'cha never thought RHB would do an economic H-manga, did you? Well, you're arguably correct. It's still about hot sex in wonderfully unrealistic circumstances (thank goodness!)

The markets are tanking, and Nabiki sees all her investments vanishing, but rather than cry about it, she resolves to start her own business (with a little seed capitol borrowed from her dear sister Akane). Either seeing her investment shrink snapped her mind, or she's been reading too many Peanuts comic strips, because Nabiki's brilliant entrepreneurial plan is a Lucy Van Pelt style advice booth, “Happiness Consultant (Tiny Disclaimer: Happiness is not Guaranteed)”. Who doesn't want to be happy, right? A wide-open market.

Of course, as friendly and helpful as the business concept sounds, Nabiki Tendou is still Nabiki Tendou. The first two customers for her “helpful” advice get a pretty raw deal (and no refunds, naturally). Her third customer, on the other hand, has actually been a “customer” of Nabiki's for some years, and Tatewaki Kunou no more interested in advice today than when he usually visits after dark. He aims to get his happiness from her the old-fashioned way (a.k.a. “the oldest profession”) but at least he pays up front.

No sooner is Nabiki wiping up the “happiness” Kunou sprayed all over her, than her two dissatisfied customers (plus a third individual who would like to discuss her recent poor treatment of small piglets) return to register customer complaints! Uh oh, Nabiki's in trouble now! Or is she?

Keeping in mind the only customer today who left her booth genuinely happier, Nabiki has a counter-proposal to giving the boys back their money; She'll let them take their payback out of her body instead. She would sooner swallow poison than refund money, and much MUCH sooner swallow some liquid protein. Of course, the boys will have to pay for their payback, so if they want in, they need to put their money down first (no, this doesn't make any sense, but it's hard to think logically when faced with full frontal nudity).

“Revenge” seems to be a highly profitable business, and in this regard, no one can claim Nabiki isn't giving her customers their money's worth and more. And if the eager boys are getting a bit overly enthusiastic with her completely at their mercy? Nabiki doesn't mind too much; it just means she can justify charging them more!

This book, in addition to bonus art, also features a huge 25 pages of omake and extra material, continuing the story beyond the official ending to a week later, when many characters decide they want a 2nd round of Nabiki.

Background & Release

Happiness Consultant was the third narrative book released by Ranma Hentai Books through their Defender System. Its pages were posted May through July of 2010.

Production

Many talented people's efforts combined to produce this book, as the RHB team become more centralized and less specialized. It's difficult to divide the project into specific tasks when people were wearing multiple hats.

It was decided to credit the entire RHB Doujinshi Circle with this accomplishment.

Reception

Along with the change in distribution method from sales of a complete book to releasing a page at a time to subscribers, the old method of reviewing the whole book at once mostly became obsolete as well.

Ranma Hentai Books still maintains a comments topic for this book in their forum, containing both the daily page-by-page comments and subscribers' final thoughts on the book upon its completion.
