The video branch of Texas A athletic department, however, has released its crowning achievement to date in The Burning Desire a documentary detailing the week of tragedy and triumph surrounding the 1999 collapse of the Aggie Bonfire.
The bonfire fell a decade ago, killing 12 Aggies and injuring 27 more, and eight days later A defeated rival Texas 20 16 in the most emotional game the program has played.
The Burning Desire not only has tons of video from that week seeing students gathered in prayer in the darkness around the fallen stack brought back a flood of memories but lots of historic clips of the bonfire and the A series.
It also includes interviews with many of the key figures surrounding that week, including bonfire victim Chip Thiel, who was 60 feet in the air at the time of the collapse.
"It fell to the east," Thiel told 12th Man Productions, "and I jumped to the west."
Others interviewed include quarterback Randy McCown and receiver Matt Bumgardner the duo that accounted for the winning touchdown Brian Gamble, who recovered UT's final fumble, and Longhorns coach Mack Brown.cheap nfl jerseys I'd forgotten, too, that Brown's wife, Sally, organized a huge blood drive that week to aid in the bonfire efforts.
"The University of Texas could not have been more sensitive to the tragedy that we were going through," Slocum said in the video.
Offensive lineman Chris Valletta recounted how several of the players wrote the victims' names on their white T shirts under their game jerseys. One of the great things about 12th Man Productions is its access to the locker room that media types such as myself don't have so there's exceptional footage of an emotional speech Slocum gave the players afterward.
