While nearly always generally known as “Tahitian” pearls, Black pearls are truly dull to brighter or black color.
Also, black pearls can present a whole range of shades at the same time, like Peacock and Green. Black pearls aren’t actually black, but very dark grey, with overtones of azure, green or purple. For many decades, black pearl necklace are prized for their rarity given that most pearls are vibrant, or cream.
Black pearls are manufactured by black-lipped oysters that live in the French Polynesian and the Indian Oceans. They have an average size of around 8 to 17 millimeters and are the only pearls that come in a dark color naturally.
