Introduction
The Perils of Fighting Dirty was RHB's second book release, in July of 2006, and the first collaborative effort between SHADE and Deep Star.
Storyline and Contents
The Story: Non-specifically set a few years beyond the end of official Ranma ½ continuity, Ranma and Akane's relationship has progressed to an adult level (at least in a physical sense). Ranma has become quite complacent and comfortable with this new status quo, and taking the “relationships perks” he receives quite for granted. Akane, however, has run out of patience with his reluctance to commit to her in the matrimonial sense, and demands out of the engagement. Her father Soun, however, insists that if she wants her freedom, she'll have to find a champion to challenge Ranma for it.
Cue Ryouga Hibiki, still carrying a torch for Akane and a grudge for Ranma. What makes him think he can beat Ranma this time, after so many years of coming up 2nd best? Well, for one thing, Ranma's gotten a bit lazy in the top spot, and for another, Ryouga's got the most insidious, underhanded combat techniques and strategy, taught him by the one old perv who can still give Ranma pause; Happosai! Neither side is really planning on a clean, honest fight here, so which low blow will be the knockout?

If Out of Character 1 was the proof-of-concept prototype, Perils was the test type, to see how well a book can be produced while avoiding as many of the pitfalls discovered in the prototype as possible. SHADE had struggled for 5 years to put OOC1 together, but when Deep Star teamed up with him in February 2006, bringing with him a host of organizational skills and net experience, Perils was released a mere six months later, in July of that year. The book was sold through Deep Star's own site, created for the purpose, and distributed entirely by download.
